Theodore Roosevelt Photo Signed as President!
Offered here is an iconic oversized photo signed by the 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt. Signed in jet-black steel tip fountain pen ink, the gorgeous full name autograph boasts incredible contrast and eye appeal. Roosevelt inscribed and dated the photo “Jan 8th 1906” in his hand.
This phenomenal presentation piece is extremely scarce! The classic image features our youngest president and measures an astounding (appx) 7.5” x 11”. Large signed photos from the turn of the century are almost unheard of, as they are typically presented 5”x7” or smaller.
Additionally, there is no personalization or other unwanted notations. Generally, special photos like this were given as gifts and almost always feature the recipient’s name. In this case, Teddy just penned his name and the date… nothing else! Non-personalized presidential signed photos are extremely scarce and highly desirable, especially examples that are over 100 years old.
In 1906 Roosevelt was in the middle of his second term, and just a month prior to signing this photo, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating peace in the Russo-Japanese War – the first American to receive such honors. On the exact day this photograph was signed, January 8, 1906, President Roosevelt gave a speech to the Senate and House of Representatives regarding construction of the Panama Canal, a project which Roosevelt spearheaded! Later that year, he went to Panama to inspect construction of the canal, becoming the first US President to Travel abroad.
So much history contained in this rare signed photo – certainly one of the finest Presidential autographs we’ve ever handled!
