In 2002 at just 17 years old, LeBron James did a public autograph signing as the #1 Player in the Country! The signing took place at an Ohio mall in March of his junior year, just one month after Sports Illustrated deemed him “The Chosen One”!
Offered here is an 8x10 photo of LeBron, signed and inscribed "23" by the then high school phenom. Accompanied with the signed photo is the original newspaper clipped ticket for the “Sportscard Show for 1 Free Autograph from the #1 High School Basketball Player in the Country”.
During his 2002 HS Junior season, LeBron averaged an astounding 28pts, 9rebs, and 6ast. and he became the first junior to be named male basketball Gatorade Player of the Year. His St. Vincent-St. Mary Catholic High School games were regularly aired on ESPN, and the team had to play in larger college gyms to accommodate all the fans coming to see "The Kid from Akron".
Early High School versions of LeBron’s autograph, inscribed with his number “23” are extremely rare! While he was obviously highly touted, the expectations put on LeBron as a teenage seemed insurmountable, and no one could have imaged how great his career would end up at the time this was signed in 2002!
