A Thrilla in Manila!
Boldly autographed Muhammed Ali (d. 2016) and Joe Frazier (d. 2011) "Thrilla in Manila" fight poster used to promote this famous 1975 boxing event in Manila, Philippines. This was their third and final bout and the "rubber match" of the most iconic trilogy in the history of professional fighting. Ali, the undisputed heavyweight champion, won the fight by TKO after the 14th round when Frazier could not continue (corner retirement). The fight is considered by boxing experts to be one of the best and most brutal contests of all-time. Ali's strategy of the "rope-a-dope" turned out be not only effective in his win, but also a term commonly used in the boxing world even today.
Each autograph is large and bold, mint examples presented in black ink. The poster is also in pristine condition, designed by renowned sports artist Leroy Neiman. It is professionally matted and framed using ultraviolet protected plexiglass to protect it for future generations to enjoy. The poster itself measures 14 x 22 inches, with overall framed dimensions of 19 x 27 inches. It's colorful for certain, displaying Neiman's distinctive expressionist design.
