The Mickey Mantle 1949 Bowman That Never Was!
Presented is a fantastic Mickey Mantle signed 8x10 photograph designed as an oversized reimagining of the iconic 1949 Bowman baseball card set! One of the most beloved early postwar sets in the hobby, 1949 Bowman featured many of baseball's greatest stars - but there was one legendary name collectors obviously couldn't find in packs: Mickey Mantle.
Mantle was still a teenage minor leaguer in 1949, several years away from appearing on his first major baseball cards. This creative piece imagines what a Mickey Mantle card might have looked like had The Mick appeared in the classic 1949 Bowman set, recreating its instantly recognizable design in an oversized 8x10 format.
Making the piece even better, Mantle boldly signed the front in blue ink, transforming the imaginative "card that never was" into a terrific autographed display piece from arguably the most iconic name in the baseball card hobby. Unlike the typical Mickey Mantle signed 8x10s that are abundant throughout the hobby, this unique 1949 Bowman-inspired design offers collectors something completely different - a fantastic way to set your Mantle collection apart!
Mantle would make his Yankees debut in 1951 and go on to become one of the greatest players in baseball history, winning 3x American League MVP Awards, the 1956 Triple Crown and 7x World Series Championships, while blasting 536 career home runs. The legendary Yankee was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
