Derek Jeter's 1996 rookie season was nothing short of spectacular! He was the unanimous AL Rookie of the Year and helped lead the Yankees to a World Series Title. This great image features Jeter rounding first base after his first postseason home run on October 9th 1996. In the 8th inning of Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, Jeter hit a fly ball to right field and a fan seemed to reach over the wall to help guide the ball into the stands! After much back and forth, the umpires ruled that it was a home run and there was no fan interference.

This iconic solo shot would tie the game, and the Yankees eventually won the game and the series, clinching the American League Pennant. Of course, they 3ould go on to win the World Series - the first of Jeter's five career championships!

He holds the Major League record for most career playoff hits (200), runs scored (111), total bases (302), singles (143) and doubles (32).
