Signed in blue ballpoint throughout, the baseball features 20 signatures, with Clemente standing as the centerpiece of this National League East Championship team.

One of the greatest all-around players to ever take the field, Clemente combined elite hitting, speed, defense and one of the strongest outfield arms in baseball history. Over 18 seasons with Pittsburgh, he collected exactly 3,000 hits, won four National League batting titles, 12 consecutive Gold Gloves and the 1966 National League MVP Award. His legacy has only grown in the decades since his tragic passing in a plane crash on December 31, 1972, while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua, making authentic Clemente signatures especially treasured by collectors.

The 1970 Pirates also represented the beginning of an important new era in Pittsburgh. The club captured the National League East Division title while transitioning from historic Forbes Field to the newly opened Three Rivers Stadium during the season. Clemente was magnificent, batting .352, while the Pirates established themselves as one of the National League's emerging powers.

More importantly, this team served as the direct precursor to Pittsburgh's 1971 World Series Championship club. The following season, Clemente delivered the defining postseason performance of his career, batting .414 in the World Series and recording a hit in all seven games as Pittsburgh defeated the Baltimore Orioles. His home run in Game 7 helped secure the championship and Clemente was named World Series MVP.
