1934 $1,000 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Graded Very Fine 25

The simple and affordable way to own one of these great pieces of paper money that are no longer printed by the Treasury Department. 1934 is the last series the government issued. It seems almost everyone loves these "high denomination" notes--some people in fact still carry them in their wallets, while others frame them for their office or man caves. Uncirculated examples can easily fetch $10,000.00 or more in auction, but nice, presentable ones are still quite affordable.

The outstanding population, i.e., ones extant, is actually quite low in relation to the amount originally printed (those records are still available). In our opinion these classic notes remain undervalued when compared to other collectibles, particularly newly-released sports cards.

Of note, since the decade of the 1960's, once these notes were deposited by customers, banks were instructed to return these notes back to their respective federal reserve branches so they could be destroyed, which of course greatly decreased the population of these rarities. Now of course they've become quite collectible and sought after.

Interestingly, both the $500 and $1,000 high denomination notes are still legal tender and negotiable at banks (if you prefer to receive only their face value). The former features the portrait of President McKinley, while the latter features President Cleveland (presently the only U.S. president to serve non-consecutive presidential terms).

Good, solid value and a wonderful show piece. Authenticated and graded by the all-important Paper Money Guarantee company.
