Measuring an incredible 20" x 24" inches and inscribed "The Mick," we present perhaps the most important Mantle autographed photo in the hobby. It features a crystal-clear, MASSIVE image of a pensive Mantle from the mid-1950s. This particular image has always been a rare find in the hobby, especially in oversized varieties... but we certainly have never seen or owned one measuring 20" x 24". What makes this piece even more important is the inscription of his nickname, ''The Mick", something he rarely did on a ball or photo. Originally shot and used as a Yankee premium in the mid-1950's, this image perfectly captures the essence of Mantle’s character and status. We just love the "look" - Mickey in a reflective, meditative mood. This image was also featured on the front cover of the famous Greer Johnson Mantle Auction Sale in 1997, held in New York City. It was a popular hobby event at the time, highlighting Mantle’s lasting impact on baseball memorabilia. 

A majority of the Mantle-signed photos in the hobby are in color, typically showing Mickey in uniform with a bat. However, this particular photo is unique and provocative, giving us a close-up of the good looking slugger in a distinctive gaze.
