Offered here is a highly evocative Joe DiMaggio signed Shamrock Hotel menu, a unique piece that ties directly to the Yankees’ 1951 Spring Training exhibition schedule. The menu bears a machine-printed date of April 7, 1951, which perfectly aligns with the New York Yankees’ exhibition game the very next day (April 8, 1951) in Houston against the Houston Buffs at old Buff Stadium. This places the menu squarely within DiMaggio’s physical presence in Houston during that historic spring.
The cut menu measures approximately 10" x 14.25" and appears to consist of the front and back portions of a larger original menu. The front prominently references offerings such as the “Shamrock Champagne Cocktail – $1.50,” while the reverse features a period image of film star and singer Kathryn Grayson, along with promotional material advertising her appearance at the Shamrock Hotel. These details strongly anchor the piece in its early-1950s cultural context.
Joe DiMaggio has signed the menu near the top corner of the reverse, executing a clean, flowing signature that remains well-presented and visually appealing. Condition notes include some foxing and staining, minor paper loss near the edge, light crinkling, small folds, and uneven edges, all consistent with an authentic period restaurant piece. Altogether, this is a richly documented and display-worthy DiMaggio autograph with strong historical relevance and undeniable vintage character.
Includes Letter of Authenticity by PSA/DNA.
