Tiger Woods Rookie-Era with Kevin Costner!

Today we know Tiger Woods as an international superstar – one of the most accomplished athletes to ever live, and certainly the greatest golfer of all-time. But in 1997, he was still a newcomer to the PGA Tour and had yet to win a Major. Coming off his rookie year in 1996, Tiger made his first appearance at Pebble Beach at the iconic AT&T National Pro-AM in February of 1997. His partner was none other than Academy Award Winner Kevin Costner. Costner, an avid golfer himself, had just starred in the iconic golf classic Tin Cup… the pair was a match made in 1990’s heaven!

Offered here is the match used scorecard from the tournament signed by Tiger in his classic, rookie-era style! We especially like this Tiger autograph because of its more refined style. His early autograph was less flamboyant than today's versions, and of course significantly scarcer, which is why we were attracted to it. We strongly believe that early, vintage autographs from athletes will continue escalating in value as more collectors realize their scarcity and significance. (early versions of Mantle, Mays and Michael Jordan, for example, have especially risen in value).

The card was scored and signed by Tiger’s good friend and professional golfer Mark O’Meara. O’Meara was the marker for Tiger and Kevin Costner, and other than Tiger’s signature confirming the score, all other writing was done in his hand. Amazingly, the card is in wonderful condition (remember the card was in O'Meara's pocket for 18 holes!) The signatures and numbers are perfectly intact and there is no staining on the white background, nor fading of the blue printing… a true beauty ready to be shown off to your golf buddies!
