Hammerin' Hank Passed The Babe!
A spectacular full proof ticket from one of the defining moments in baseball history — the night Hammerin’ Hank launched career home run No. 715 and officially surpassed Babe Ruth as Major League Baseball’s all-time home run king. This original ticket from the historic April 8, 1974 game offers an exceptional display piece directly tied to Aaron's legendary achievement.
On April 8, 1974, the Atlanta Braves hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers before more than 53,000 fans at Atlanta Stadium. Aaron entered the evening tied with Ruth at 714 career home runs. In the fourth inning, he connected off Dodgers pitcher Al Downing, sending the ball over the left-center field wall for No. 715. The historic blast completed one of the most celebrated pursuits in American sports and established a Major League home run record Aaron would hold for more than three decades.
The ticket is a full proof example produced for the historic April 8 game. Proof tickets were created during the ticket-production process, but never actually issued for admission. This complete example preserves the full design of the original game ticket and provides a striking presentation of this historic piece of baseball memorabilia.
Few individual milestones in baseball history carry the significance of No. 715. Material directly associated with that historic night offers a tangible connection to the moment Aaron surpassed Ruth and forever cemented his place among baseball’s immortals.
