Offered here is a perfect Lou Gehrig autograph… The Iron Horse’s iconic signature presented in jet-black, bold fountain ink - graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA/DNA!

High-grade Gehrig signatures are seldom seen, and Perfect Gem Mint 10’s are virtually impossible. Gehrig typically signed his name in the same fashion he lived his life… with humility. He was a soft spoken, humble man, and applying a lot of pressure while signing his name just wasn’t consistent with his personality. Contrary to all the other Gehrig autographs we’ve handled over the years, this particular example is the strongest and darkest we’ve ever had in our collection.

The vintage letter stationary measures approximately 6in. 4in. and is dated January 20^th 1939. Of course, 1939 would mark Gehrig’s final days playing for the Yankees, as his illness forced him into retirement early into the ’39 season. Unfortunately, signing his name was even a struggle at this time… so any authentic signature from 1939 is extremely scarce and seldom seen.

Luckily, this signature was scripted early that year, and The Iron Horse scripted his name with flawless execution… the same way he approached the batter’s box throughout his legendary Hall of Fame career.
