Offered here is an exceptional Lou Gehrig single-signed baseball, featuring a gorgeous black ink signature from the beloved Yankee legend - with the autograph graded an impressive 7 by PSA/DNA. The signature remains remarkably bold and presents beautifully across the side panel of the Official American League baseball (Harridge pres. 1934-1939). The ball itself remains remarkably clean for its age, evidence that the artifact has clearly been treasured and cared for throughout the decades - and the autograph is inscribed in Gehrig’s hand to the lucky fan who originally received it.

Gehrig's autograph is scarce in any form, but single-signed baseballs are exceedingly rare. Even when Gehrig’s elusive signature is found on a baseball, it is nearly always accompanied by other signatures on a team or multi-signed ball. Finding the Iron Horse alone on a baseball is extraordinarily tough. Combining that scarcity with Gehrig’s stature as one of the greatest players in baseball history, a beloved Yankee Captain and an American sports icon, Gehrig remains perhaps the most coveted of all elusive Hall of Fame single-signed baseballs.

It has been said that for every one hundred Babe Ruth single-signed baseballs, you’ll find just one Lou Gehrig — and even that may overstate the supply! Gehrig famously once said, “I’m not a headline guy. I know that as long as I was following Ruth to the plate I could have stood on my head and no one would have known the difference.” The quote perfectly captures the tremendous humility of the Iron Horse. While Ruth embraced his larger-than-life celebrity, Gehrig remained  modest and reserved despite standing alongside him as one of the greatest players the game had ever seen. Combined with Gehrig’s tragically early passing at just 37 years old, comparatively few examples of his autograph exist today — and single-signed baseballs are in a class of their own.

Gehrig spent his entire 17-year career with the New York Yankees, compiling a remarkable .340 lifetime batting average, 2,721 hits, 493 home runs and 1,995 RBI. The 2x American League MVP, Triple Crown winner and 6x World Series Champion famously played in 2,130 consecutive games, earning the nickname “The Iron Horse” and setting a record that stood for more than half a century. His legendary career was tragically cut short by ALS in 1939, and Gehrig was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame that same year.
