Urban Shocker was one of the greatest pitchers of the 1920's, and an integral part of the 1927 New York Yankees World Series Championship team! While Babe Ruth and Lou Gehig shined in the batter's box, Shocker posted an astonishing .750 win percentage as a starting pitcher. Those 1927 Yankees, known as Murderer's Row, are widely considered the greatest team in the history of Major League Baseball, and astute collectors have attempted to complete autograph sets for decades. Urban Shocker is the key signature, and certainly the scarcest. Sadly the righty passed away in 1928, and to this day, only a dozen or-so signatures are known to exist! (not including team-signed baseballs)
The black fountain ink signature remains in mint condition with no skips or defects, rendering perfect contrast!
