Presented is a rare Free Frank envelope addressed in Washington's hand: "To David Ross Esquire Brigade Major at Philadelphia." Washington boldly signed his name in the lower left corner, circa 1770s. David Ross was a major in the Continental Army and served as a Major at Philadelphia during the American Revolution, making this signature likely to date from the Revolutionary War!
