Mickey Mantle Signed & Inscribed "HOF '74" Baseball. JSA

Mickey Mantle inscribed items have consistently increased in value over the years. Certainly one of the most collected players in the hobby—many would argue "the most popular" of all—memorabilia collecting often begins with one of his pieces. Just look at the prices of his baseball cards; they far outpace those of any other player. 

At the top of the list of Mantle collectibles are his signed baseballs, particularly those with inscriptions.In the early years of his signings, Mantle graciously added inscriptions for collectors upon request, but by the late 1980s, due to high demand and time constraints, he ceased doing so, making these inscribed examples quite rare. As a result, many of these inscribed balls now sell for several thousand dollars, with many even reaching five figures. 

In contrast, we believe this particular piece offers excellent value and still remains a "good buy". It also makes a great addition to any collection—one step above the average signed ball. This particular example is beautifully inscribed in dark ballpoint ink and conservatively grades Near Mint to Mint condition. It's free of toning, spots or scuffing. It's white in color and an official American League ball (B.Brown, pres.).
