Honus Wagner Signed T206?!

While we have been unable to acquire an original Honus Wagner T206 (signed or unsigned), we are proud to offer the ultimate Honus Wagner signed T206 display piece! Presented is a large, full-name Honus Wagner signature that has been expertly affixed to an oversized print of the iconic card. Measuring approximately 4” x 8”, the card (Sweet Caporal reverse) has the perfect vintage look, and seamlessly matches the paper on which Wagner has signed his bold autograph.

Honus Wagner’s impact on America’s Pastime is tough to beat. Over the course of Major League Baseball’s almost-150 year history, Wagner is still considered the greatest shortstop of all-time. It is no surprise that he was just one of five players inducted as an inaugural member of the 1936 Hall of Fame class, along with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson.

And then of course, there’s the card…

Honus Wagner’s T206 tobacco card is the most infamous piece of sports memorabilia on the planet. Even non-collectors are familiar with the million-dollar card! The mystique surrounding the iconic issue derives from the minimal population in existence, especially for one of the game’s all-time greats… a simple case of supply and demand.

As legend has it, Wagner refused to let the American Tobacco Company use his image because he didn’t want to promote tobacco, especially to children. However, that theory is easily refuted, as Wagner had previously appeared in tobacco ads and was a user himself. Most baseball enthusiasts agree that Wagner forced the ATC to halt production early on, because he wasn’t compensated enough for the use of his image and likeness. After all, The Flying Dutchman did have a reputation for being a fierce negotiator!

Whatever the case may be, the result was an extremely limited number of cards issued for one of the greatest players of the era. Today, it is estimated that only 50-60 Honus Wagner T206’s exist, most worth a few million dollars each! Even poor quality issues that are ripped in half will fetch six-figures in auction! And of course, with such a low population, there is not a single autographed Wagner T206 known to exist… until now?!
