One of the most popular and important notes in the entire hobby, this specimen sports perfect centering, exceptionally white borders, and overall color. The Lincoln image is simply spectacular and the ink printing could not be more distinct.

This is the first and only large-size silver certificate to feature President Abraham Lincoln, and it earned the nickname “porthole” for the large circle surrounding Lincoln on the obverse, resembling the porthole of a ship!

Note: The treasury department scaled down the actual physical dimensions of all currency to today's present size in June, 1929; its chief reason was to save the cost of paper and printing. During the Roaring Twenties the government was printing money at an extremely high rate. Sound familiar?!
